Her Tales of She-N: Shenzhen Dimension! 搜妽异闻录-深圳次元!

Event Series · Summer 2026 · Shenzhen

Her Tales of She-N: Shenzhen Dimension! was a celebration of game design, urban imagination, and worldbuilding from women’s perspectives. As the first public, in-person event of the Nuwa Worldbuilders Network (NUWA), the series brought together game creators and audiences through a playful personality test, a panel discussion with women indie game developers, and a worldbuilding workshop exploring Shenzhen’s possible futures.

I curated the series for NUWA, with the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shenzhen) and HandShake 302 as supporting partners.

1. “Genesis Lab” — WBTI Creator Personality Test

An online, playful personality test inviting participants to explore their own worldbuilding and creative archetypes.

2. “Why Are Women Making Games in Shenzhen?” — Panel Discussion

Women indie game developers from Shenzhen gathered to share their journeys into game-making, their experiences growing up and creating in the city, and the personal memories that shaped their practices.

Moving from childhood encounters with video games to the experience of creating new worlds themselves, the conversation explored how women game creators find their voices—and asked: What makes Shenzhen fertile ground for women game creators? And how might they use games to reimagine the city’s future?

Speakers: Yueqi Wu, Yahna, Rashel Li
Venue: Blue Bookstore × UABB Urban Station, Shenzhen

3. “In Search of Shen: Shenzhen Futures” — Worldbuilding Workshop

Concept image was generated by Gemini with Rashel Li’s work The Foolish Old Man Project (2019) as reference.

Participants became future archaeologists, exploring the interactive narrative work In Search of Shen: Shenzhen Futures and collaboratively creating their own maps of Shenzhen’s imagined futures.

Moving between Shenzhen’s history, ancient mythology, and speculative futures, participants investigated forgotten memories and followed traces left behind by a mysterious female deity. Each participant received a unique “Shenzhen Future Archaeology / Divine Trace Report” and, after the game, shared their discoveries, worldbuilding experiences, and their own stories of searching for the divine.
